Intel SSD Series 710, now with official prices

Solid State Drive Intel 710 series: we have already spoken extensively on these pages, but now come the official press release from Intel. Designed to replace the now obsolete series X-25E, the new family memories expensive SLC 710 waiver for the benefit of the previous series of chips at 25 nm MLC NAND, meanwhile evolved into something much more refined than during the presentation of x -25E.

NAND Flash chips in the series 710, in fact, we find the technology Intel High Endurance (HET) , designed to provide the strength and performance necessary for data centers, financial services, comprehensive solutions, Internet portals, search engines and other applications demanding Storage and server. Intel says a resistance 30 times higher than the NAND flash chips without HET, referring to the different pitfalls that undergoes a form of NAND flash in his life, such as the cycles of writing and rewriting, but not only.

The resistance of default with respect to writing well reaches 1.1 pet bytes (1 PB), a parameter that is gradually replacing MTBF at least for Enterprise SSDs. The cuts are available in 100 GB, 200 GB and 300 GB, while when I / O states for the new Intel SSDs Intel 710 up to 2,700 IOPS (Input / Output Operations Per Second) performance in the random write 4 KB and up to 38,500 IOPS random read performance of 4 KB for the entire life cycle of the unit. Note that for the discs you use enterprise values of I / O certainly more accurate and less optimistic than those typical of the consumer world.

The official prices, virtually identical to those already reported on our pages, so they are more advantageous than those of the old units when compared to the X-25E capacities, but they remain very high. It starts from 100 GB of 649.00 dollars, passing for 200 GB of $ 1,289.00, finishing the drive with 300 GB 1929.00 Dollars, all in 1,000-unit quantities. Prices from sector enterprise, certainly not for all pockets.
