Not slow to show the fruits of the acquisition of McAfee from Intel. Let us briefly recall that Intel has paid the beauty of 7.68 billion U.S. dollars to acquire McAfee just a year ago, to the amazement of many industry analysts.
During IDF 2011 San Francisco, currently under way, Intel CEO Paul Otellini announced that the technology Deep Safe that, as the name implies, seeks to bring active safety to levels previously unattainable with the only software solutions. A combination of hardware and software, then, that will be the guard to block abnormalities hardly recognizable, such as root kits.
Currently, in most systems, it is customary to install an antivirus to protect themselves from the most common malware circulating. The anti-virus (AV slide), in conjunction with services of Data Loss Prevention (DLP), watches over our system, identifying and neutralizing an enormous number of known malware. Such a system, however, can not do anything against malware not yet identified as not in the database of reference to recognize the malicious code.
Root kits, by their nature, are hidden in the deepest parts of the code at the kernel level, under the guise of operating system files and act undisturbed and most complete anonymity. Towards the end of this year Intel will provide the new technology in Deep Safe Core i3, i5 and i7, although it is not yet clear whether all or only some versions. Taking advantage of technology VT (Virtualization Technology) CPU Core Deep Safe aims to monitor the system so much more effective for malware not yet identified.
To do so, besides the nature of hardware and software, help a special "behavior monitors monitoring", which should be able to identify abnormal behavior without relying on a database to detect malicious software? Deep Safe will not be exclusive and proprietary technology, but will be made available to other companies might be concerned.
