Goodbye PowerPC
To install Mac OS X 10.7 "Lion" Apple requires a system that is at least equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, i5, i7 Core, Xeon, or, at least 2GB of RAM, version 10.6.6 Snow Leopard (recommended to 10.6.8) and 7GB of free space on hard disk .
As was the case in Snow Leopard, Lion also only reclaim systems equipped with Intel processors. However, when the previous operating system allowed the installation of the emulation "Rosetta" for applications written for PowerPC, Lion does not support in any way to run PowerPC applications: it is an important feature to consider with due careful when you are considering moving to Lion, especially if you already have a large fleet of PowerPC-compliant application.
Automatic termination applications
Lion introduces a new management application that allows their automatic termination when they are deemed "inactive" by the system. According to Lion the definition of "inactive application" is an application that has no windows open, which has no hidden windows, and that is not currently used by the user (in background). If these conditions are met and if the application supports the automatic termination, the operating system will close the application if it has bison go resources for other tasks.
The ultimate goal of this solution is to eliminate the boundaries between applications closed and inactive applications, again conforming to the mechanisms of their use of IOS. In fact, the automatic termination of the application results in a behavior quite misleading: in fact, we checked with some applications (Preview, Text Edit, Snapshot, while Safari does not seem to support this feature) that when you close the last window of the program and you switch to the Finder or any other program, the application disappears from the Dock and is no longer accessible even by the selector multitasking Command-Tab. However, observing the processes through Activity Monitor, the process is still active.
It is unclear whether this behavior is to catalog the item "Work as Intended" or whether this is a bug in the youth of the operating system: you must wait until the next maintenance update for more information.
