Even today, the blog dedicated to the development of Windows 8 reveals some interesting details on the upcoming operating system from Microsoft. The concerns of the day argument virtualization and the post is signed by John Mathew - Program Manager Hyper-V team. The president of Windows and Windows Live Microsoft points out that the blog BUILD was created to discuss the development of Windows 8 and not the characteristics of the final product, so with this caveat will dampen some of the criticisms originally published between the comments of previous posts.
We return quickly to the news and the topic of the day: Microsoft Windows 8 will be implemented technologies of Microsoft Hyper-V, then for the first time will be available on an operating system intended for desktops, notebooks and more. Hyper-V is Microsoft's technology up to date solutions available on the server for the creation and management of virtual machines.
The availability of Hyper-V enables developers and system administrators to use directly on your work PC virtual machine, so no need to use third-party solutions. The novelty may also have broader implications, also reaching the end user that until now has never had real contact with virtualized solutions.
To implement Hyper-V on Windows 8 Microsoft is grappling with the resolutions of problems recently. Mathew John explains that with respect to the solutions currently available on the server has had to work on the Hyper-V, which is responsible for network management, in particular the use of wireless cards.
With proper simplifications and in a nutshell, the question at issue is this: suppose you have two or more virtual machines running under Hyper-V and that each has at least one network interface. For each network interface is assigned a MAC address that will be transferred in each packet of data. In the case of a server solution interface Ethernet using a NIC in promiscuous mode enables communication of virtual cards with the real world, but not as much flexibility is offered by NIC ports or connectors used for Wi-Fi support only single MAC address in the packets.
The solution currently provides for the integration of Microsoft Bridge by placing the component in the Wi-Fi NICs and virtual switches.
Windows 8 will be published less frequently, but the attention is obviously paid to Microsoft for developers conference scheduled in a few days.
