Growing sales of workstations

The trend in sales of workstation solutions, according to data entered in the most recent market analysis published by Jon Peddle Research, shows an overall positive result for the second quarter of 2011.

During the reporting period, sales of workstations have been equal to slightly less than 907,000 systems, with an increase of 5.4% over the previous quarter. During the first 3 months of 2011 the result was negative, compared to the last 4 months of 2010, 4.8%, pattern of the rest in line with the historically recorded for this type of product.

The share market is that of HP, able to score 42% of total net distance Dell with 33.8%. The two companies continue to remain in any case the dominant forces in the field of workstations with the Renovo positioned in third place capable of a significant leap forward from the previous 7.9% to 9.9%.

Turning to sales of video solutions integrated into the workstation point out a dominant market share for NVIDIA with 80, 9% of the total, albeit with a fort located crescent AMD to 18.5% of the total. The latter was capable of more than double its sales levels compared to that seen in mid-2008. In total, between integrated and discrete GPUs for desktop systems and notebooks, were sold about 1.25 million GPUs for use in workstations.
