If PC sales continue to highlight some difficulty, with a reduced annual growth rate estimated at less than 3% for 2011, are the solutions to benefit from a tablet market demand extremely high. The most recent data released by IDC this address show a sales increase of 88, 9% on a quarterly basis, with a boost of as much as 303.8%, taking as reference the same period last year.
Overall the second quarter of 2011 saw sales of 13.6 million devices, tablet, with an estimate for the full year 2011, which provides a total of 62.5 million devices. The previous estimate for the sector had shown sales expectations for 53.5 million tablets in 2011.
The brilliant result for the second quarter of 2011 was made possible by the sale of solutions Apple iPhone 2, with 9.3 million units accounted for 68.3% of the total against a share of 65.7% stake in the previous quarter. Result negative for the tablet-based Android operating system in terms of market share, increased from the previous 34% in the first quarter of 2011 to 26.8%, to justify this result, even the good result of RIM, which with their own solutions collected Playbook 4.9% of the total.
The estimates for the third quarter of 2011 are not good solutions for tablet-based Android operating system. In fact, IDC predicts a decline in market share up to 23% in the next quarter, with expected growth up to 25.9% of the total in the fourth quarter. Interestingly enough, the price reduction practiced by HP to its Touch Pad solutions will allow the company to score in the third quarter U.S. market share of 4.7% to about 1 million devices to be sold by the end of the year . It is however only indicative of a result, since the tablet Web OS proposals are not intended to remain on the market once the promotion, HP.
