OCZ Note and Strata, two new SSD solutions MSAT

More and more solid state drive on the market thanks to the price of NAND flash memory chips more affordable. To enrich the lists, this time the device MSAT is OCZ , which presents the public with two new families Note and Strata, as reported by Storage Review .

Let us briefly recall that this particular type of Solid State Drive is designed for solutions that need to minimize its overall dimensions, not least those of the internal components. To give some examples, we find these particular SSD net books, tablets, and even high-end notebooks, though with higher performance than those used in the first two categories mentioned.

OCZ was founded around a Note SF-2141/2181 Sand Force controller, ensuring compatibility with 3Gbps SATA specification. This family of products will be sold in denominations of 30GB, 60GB and 120GB, all with dimensions of 30mm x 50mm and with 20nm NAND flash chips. The 30GB and 60GB models are credited for writing and reading speed sequential 255MB per second, while the 120GB limit up to 260MB per second.

The family is however equipped with OCZ Strata Indilinx Barefoot ECO controllers and available in 30GB and 60GB cuts. The performance is more modest than seen with OCZ Note: the 30GB model performs in the order of 125MB per second read and 40MB per second write, rising respectively 130MB/se 85MB / s in the 60GB model.

It is the latter; a family designed specifically for tablets and net books, where performance requirements are not particularly high and above the units should be relatively cheap. Unfortunately there are still no official prices, omitted from OCZ.
