The party of the pirates make their way in Germany

It is not our business to talk about politics but when, as in this case, the IT world and the political can not be met without it. Yeah, because in Germany the pirate party collects, exit poll data, the 8, 5% of the vote, gaining access to the regional council. One thing great.

This is a major surprise in the German political scene: already announced in the polls, the vote yesterday in Berlin for the renewal of the parliament of the city-state has confirmed that this party cures the emerging popular interest.

The German Pirate Party was founded five years ago and, since its foundation, now has about 13.000 members. The growth of the party exploded in 2009 during a national political debate about the blocking of sites containing material on the Internet pedografico. Many have read in the decision to block a form of censorship and actively fought to prevent the presence of a "precedent".

As reported by several German newspapers to the success of pirates of the party there would be a disrespectful campaign that captured the imagination of the youngest group of voters. Among the principles brought forward by this party there are those of freedom of copyright and data protection. According to Holger Liljeberg, polling institute of info: "This party focuses a lot on liberalism and freedom."

The result has, however, earlier in Europe: the first Pirate Party to collect votes to enter parliament was that of Sweden, who during the 2009 elections, gathering about 7% of the votes.
