Trojan for Mac OS X in a PDF file

The well-known security firm F-Secure public on his blog a warning about a new Trojan for the operating systems Mac OS X , which is hidden within a file PDF : This Trojan-Dropper: OSX / Revir. A installs the backdoor Back door: OSX / Mac user on the system Imuler. A fell victim to the attack.

The Trojan is spreading, as mentioned, disguised as a PDF file that shows a document in Chinese in order to hide their activities behind the scenes. As we read Blog F-Secure, the remote control center of this backdoor would be a simple install Apache, but currently the backdoor does not communicate with anything.

At the current state of affairs the threat does not seem to be particularly serious, but the situation could change if the file were to spread in a numerically large. The F-Secure researchers are now investigating ways of spreading this Trojan. The best hypothesis is the normal circulation in the form of an email attachment.

To check if your system is infected by backdoor simply open the application "Activity Monitor" and, as F-Secure says the same, check the list of running processes is present the process "Check Vir". In case of positive feedback, close the process and delete restart the system.

The best advice, however, is to accept and download PDF files only from a certain order to prevent infection.
