uTorrent under attack: two hours to spread Malware

A group of as yet unidentified hackers managed to take hold of the web server utorrent.com, the website of one of the most used client, coosciuti and disseminated on the Internet for downloading torrent files. The bad guy’s avrebebro replaced the normal client for the download with malware.

The breach was open during the day on Tuesday and would have also involved the portal bittorrent.com. The directors of the two sites, however, have identified the problem and promptly put down the servers within a short time.

"This morning, around 4:20 (Pacific Time, our 13) web server and bittorrent.com utorrent.com have been compromised. Our standard software for download has been replaced by a fake anti-virus scare ware”, the company announced on its official blog at this address.

The dynamics of the attack, carried out successfully, provided for the replacement of the torrent client with a program scare ware: users who downloaded the application you are found to install a program that will alert, completely false, that it has found viruses on the PC, promoting the purchase of antivirus software. Infections of this type to get, in most cases, by the Trojans.
